Is there a difference between Methodists and United Methodist?

I recently did a review and told me my religion bubble. One of them said other Methodist and United Methodist. I did not know there was a difference.

United Methodist Church, the April 23, 1968: At Dallas, Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren Churches united to form the United Methodist Church, creating the second largest denomination Protestant in the United States. Methodism is a Christian denomination that was begun by John Wesley (1703-1791) and (1714-1770 George Whitefield) in England in early 1700. The name comes from the fact that Wesley tried to understand religion "rule and method" and follow the teachings of the Bible, as interpreted by tradition and reason.
