I have a Grandfather clock that, I think, is wound too tight. I wound it one day and it quit running but,if I were to endlessly, manually, swing the long hand back and forth, it seems to unwind a bit. Who has time for that?( no pun intended). Please tell me how I can get this fixed,or, if I can fix it myself.
What should I consider when choosing grandfather clocks?
I’m looking for a traditional grandfather clock for my house. Do you know any popular brands that I should check out?
A couple of things here. First of all, just wondering if anyone knows the best brand of Grandfather Clock (Sligh, Ridgeway, Howard Miller, etc.)–if they’re all just the same, if you’re getting a used one.
Also, any opinions on the timing of the chiming? (Umm . . .) In other words, is it better to have them chime every 15 minutes or every half hour? Any advantages or disadvantages for either? We know we want one that shuts off at night.
Thanks!
i know i need a special tool but is there anything else i can use till i get one?
it was a white little grandfather clock made of plastic. you put a tape in it and it told stories in an old man’s voice. Where can I find one today? Who’s voice told all those stories?
It runs great, keeps perfect time, but at 9:00 it chimes once, 10:00 it chimes twice, etc….any suggestions? Please????
i have a colonial grandfather clock that has the engraving 16773 on the back of the gear case. i do not know anything about these clocks. How old might it be? it doesnt want to stay ticking so my guess is it needs to be cleaned and it said something on the back the “verge” may need to be adjusted? any ino will help. thanks
my son is making a grandfather clock for his leaving cert and he needs to get pendulum movements for it does any one know where i can get some somewhere in ireland would be great if not the uk will be alright as well. thanks for all who answer.
I have a Howard Miller gfather clock. After starting the pendulum swinging without any interference, it eventually comes to a stop without any movement in the center weight. Needless to say, the left and right weights don’t drop either. Ideas?
