What the heck is wrong with my grandfather clock?

First, it does not keep the proper time. It will be all right for a couple of hours after I set the time, but then it will gradually gain more and more hours until it reads 11 at 3 in the afternoon. I’ve adjusted the pendulum many times and this doesn’t seem to help.
It also does not chime the right number of times on the hour. For example, at noon it will chime eight times.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you lubricated it? take it to someone who can fix it.
Yes I worked at Howard Miller making clocks many years ago. I cannot tell you how to fix it here online. It has to be inspected. You need to find a local clock repair man. There aren’t many around these days.
