Virginia is known for its many products and resources, which explains the rich colonial heritage and history. By 1600, the Community has been a center of production of many goods and luxuries. Historians speak of our ancestors, snuff growing along the cobbled streets of Jamestown, and for nearly a Suffolk century was considered one of the peanut capital of the world. Cotton, ham, fish and exports of seafood are also popular, as is the wine. Few people outside the world of bacchanal aware that Virginia is a popular wine country, the tenth among U.S. states in production Grape!

There are over a hundred wineries operating in the Commonwealth of Virginia, covering nearly 2,500 hectares of land, and production up three hundred thousand cases per year. On average, over four thousand tons grapes are produced each year to make wine in Virginia. You will find almost all varieties of red White and grown in Virginia, Riesling and Chardonnay sweet pie, Merlot and Cabernet more acute on this side of the Mississippi River.

Celebrations wine are hosted throughout the state, as many of three hundred pounds per year, with vineyards have been many national and international awards home for their products. Winemaking has been a dedicated practice in Virginia since the dawn of the first colonies, is a tradition preserved in thousands of bottles sold each year for wine lovers. Not only the first State of Virginia to produce U.S. presidents, is the first to produce wine, and over the centuries, the practice has grown old, and crops!

In northern Virginia in particular is not necessary Travel "Sideways" to enjoy a pleasant visit to the cellar. Staffordshire from the edge of the ring of DC can be more than 30 institutions wineries, many of which offer tours and tastings of specialties. Like most Virginia wineries are small family business, it is recommended contact before the time of operation and visiting hours. Occasionally, some wineries in May to plan events in conjunction with other local companies – a quick Internet search on wines from Virginia and the Virginia Wine Association will take you to a wealth of information to help you plan a journey of wine enjoyment. Once C is on the road, look for road signs bearing a cluster of purple grapes that show directions to their destinations. It is more likely to find off the beaten track roads, local roads and state highways instead.

When planning your next trip to Virginia wine, be sure to take a few detours to the Northern Neck region, near Stafford and King George counties and Washington, DC. Here are some popular selections are determined to satisfy the palate:

Hartwood Winery: Fredericksburg

This historic farm has been production of quality wine from 89! Hartwood Winery hosts tastings and events throughout the year, enabling visitors to enjoy its crisp Chardonnay and Bordeaux.

Lost Creek Winery: Leesburg

Lost Creek offers unusual but delicious flavor mixes, apple and grape tank, the late harvest wines from grapes rich in sugar.

Three Fox Vineyards: Delaplane

Three Fox specializes in Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, Viognier and vintages in his fifty acre farm. Wine lovers are also invited to join a circle of producers including, where you can "sponsor and vines be trained in the process of winemaking.

Linden Vineyards: Linden

For over twenty-five years, Linden has produced some of the best wines of Bordeaux in the Community. Tours and seminars on wine and every time they lodge in the winter and summer Linden perfect place for education and recreation leave in any Wine Trail in Virginia.

If you like what you taste in these areas and other Northern Virginia Wineries sure to take some bottles with you, especially if you are out of state. Currently, the Virginia wines are primarily available Virginia, although the State has entered into reciprocal agreements with thirteen states to allow the wine sold elsewhere in the country. Salud!
