Is there a difference between Methodists and United Methodist?

I recently did a review and told me my religion bubble. One of them said other Methodist and United Methodist. I did not know there was a difference.

United Methodist Church, the April 23, 1968: At Dallas, Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren Churches united to form the United Methodist Church, creating the second largest denomination Protestant in the United States. Methodism is a Christian denomination that was begun by John Wesley (1703-1791) and (1714-1770 George Whitefield) in England in early 1700. The name comes from the fact that Wesley tried to understand religion "rule and method" and follow the teachings of the Bible, as interpreted by tradition and reason. Also used as an epithet for students at the University of Oxford, who ridiculed the "Holy Club founded by John and his brother Charles. Members of this group has organized a program for themselves rigorous daily schedule that included a visit to specific education, poor patients, and observation of religious services in church. Moreover, prayed aloud three times daily and was in a silent prayer every hour. During the War of Independence, the disciples of Wesley in the United States lacked the leadership and the Anglican Church refused to order people to help if Wesley took the unusual step of ordering some ministers of his own – the key step was the creation of the Methodist Church and the Methodist Episcopal Church first organized in Baltimore, December 24, 1784. "A mid-20th century, Methodism was the largest denomination Protestant in the United States. Today, most of the Methodist denomination United States is the United Methodist Church.
