Light Led

Why is my LED light you stick on the wall and click, not work?

I bought a white LED light you stick on the wall pad adhesive in the light of a dark cupboard under the stairs. However, it does not work when clicked and not done from the beginning. Batteries (AAA 1.5V) are provided, all seems perfectly fine. But when I click on it nothing happens. Does anyone know what might be the problem?
