High Torque

Why high speed low torque for optimum energy production from wind turbines?

I am studying an article on windmills. The article says that to generate electricity, a wind turbine that rotates at high speed at low torque provides the regime is preferable to a turbine rotating at a slow speed and high torque output. Can anyone explain why this is the case? Undoubtedly, the speed can be changed easily by using a sequence of speed before the generator?

I agree with the previous answer. The turbines operate at high speed with low-end torque, because it will collect the maximum efficiency. When the wind works with a light breeze, the leaves will encounter less friction and therefore can be used for electricity generation instead.
