For nearly half a year I’ve had a pain on my left side. It’s generally below between my lowest and 2nd lowest left side rib – about an inch forward from dead-center left (10 o’clock). The pain is slightly below the surface of the skin. In the past it only was painful if I did a sudden jerking movement (such as jumping) or twisting too far to one direction . Now it noticable just walking around (today it is throbing as I type this).

I’ve had several doctor visits and have also had x-rays and a sonogram. There is no broken ribs and no spleen damage. The doctors do not know what it is. They doubt it is organ related. Initially they thought it could be a muscle pull (intercostal), but I have taken their advice and stopped exercising for 6 weeks, but the pain is still there.

Any ideas of what it is and what to do about it?
